Most AI recorders listen all the time and hope nobody minds. Scribe records only when you tap, tells everyone it's recording while it does, and keeps the audio on your phone. What you get back is not a summary. Claims are checked against live sources while people are still talking, and every recording ends with an accuracy score you can trace claim by claim.
Scribe has no always-on mode to turn off. A recording begins when you tap record and ends when you tap stop; nothing listens in between.
While it records, the screen says so and the app announces it out loud at the start, so the people in the room learn it from the room rather than from a policy page.
A recording is written to your device and nowhere else. Transcription runs on the phone, so the default path uploads no audio at all. The iPhone app contains no code that uploads audio.
The one path by which audio ever reaches a server is a person who does not have the app uploading an existing recording file from a computer to their own room. Our transcription service produces a transcript and the audio is deleted as soon as the transcript exists — which is what the words "by default" are doing in the sentence above.
A summary tells you what was said. A debrief tells you what was claimed: each claim is pulled out and checked against live public sources while the conversation is still going, and a card on your phone marks it Confirmed, with the source's own words and a link to the page, or Verify this yourself, with whatever was found and a link when there is one.
When you tap End, the room finishes checking and the debrief arrives with an accuracy score — 0 to 100, a word (Accurate, Mostly accurate, Mixed, Unreliable) and a basis line that shows the arithmetic: how many were confirmed, how many are marked Verify this yourself, and how many were checked in total.
Every card names the utterance it came from, and the source it was checked against. A claim with no source keeps no source rather than borrowing one.
